When the Penguins take the ice on Saturday to face the Toronto Maple Leafs, it looks like they’ll be doing so with an even more depleted lineup.
Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan said Thursday that Jeff Carter has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now in the league’s protocol for handling positive test results for the virus.
Sullivan added that Tristan Jarry has entered into the league’s COVID-19 protocol as well. He did not specify whether Jarry has tested positive for the virus, or if he has entered the protocol due to contact tracing.

In non-COVID related Penguins updates, Sidney Crosby had another scheduled day off and continues to rehab his wrist injury. He will not play on Saturday, but Sullivan said he is rehabbing off the ice even when he does not skate.
In practice today, Evan Rodrigues assumed the role of first line center.
Sullivan said he’s ‘a very capable guy’ and the team is going to be relying on him.
