John Harbaugh Says Ravens Went for 2 vs. Steelers Because of BAL's CB Injuries

The Baltimore Ravens suffered a 20-19 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday after head coach John Harbaugh made the questionable decision to have his team go for two points rather than kicking what could have been a game-tying extra point with 12 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. 

Harbaugh told reporters after the loss that he decided to go for two points because his squad was thin at cornerback after Marlon Humphrey exited with an unspecified injury. 

Harbaugh added that Humphrey could be sidelined for a while because of the injury. He is set to undergo an MRI.

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson targeted tight end Mark Andrews on the two-point attempt, but the pass sailed a little too far out of reach. Andrews got one hand on the ball but was unable to reel it in. 

Baltimore entered Sunday's game with its top five cornerbacks listed as questionable, and while four of them played, it's not hard to see why Harbaugh opted to go for two points. 

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger had one of his better games of the season on Sunday, completing 21 of 31 passes for 236 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Wide receiver Diontae Johnson caught eight passes for 105 yards and two scores, while running back Najee Harris rushed for 71 yards on 21 carries. 

As for the Ravens, Jackson completed 23 of 37 passes for 253 yards, one touchdown and one interception in addition to running for 55 yards on eight carries. Wide receiver Marquise Brown finished with five catches for 55 yards, and Sammy Watkins had four catches for 39 yards and a touchdown.

Sunday's loss dropped the Ravens to 8-4. However, they remain in first place in the AFC North. Pittsburgh moved to 6-5-1 with the win.

With Baltimore's loss, the AFC playoff race remains wide open, setting up an interesting end to the regular season.
