The Penguins and Islanders had a game for the ages last night, a wild contest that had a little bit of everything with back and forth action, tempers flaring and a thrilling conclusion. Here’s what we’re looking at as the dust settles.

Brandon Tanev puts the exclamation point on a wild night, because of course he does. [Pensburgh]

“There were a lot of emotions, but I thought we did a really good job responding to some of the adversities throughout the course of the game - particularly in the 3rd period.” [Penguins Mike Sullivan press conference video]

And from around the league..

Scary moment as John Tavares got knocked over, then took a shot from a passerby in Corey Perry. Game was moving so quickly, just a really bad end result here. Tavares got stretchered off and to the hospital. [NHL.com]

Tavares is reportedly conscious, communicating well and passing some medical tests so far which is great to hear. He was going to stay in the hospital overnight, however. [Twitter- Joshua Kloke]

The Canadiens got a late goal to win Game 1, 2-1, too last night against the Leafs, on a really sweet Paul Byron short handed goal. [Habs Eyes on the Prize]

Elsewhere, Patric Hornqvist (1 goal) and the Panthers avoided a 3-0 hole by beating the mighty Lightning 6-5 in OT last night [TSN]

Nazem Kadri offered “in person” hearing (could be more than 5 games) for the latest of his long line of dirty plays. [NHL.com]

The draft lottery odds are out for the 15 teams that didn’t make the playoffs AND the Seattle Kraken. Official Pensburgh pick to win the draft? The Dallas Stars to move all the way up, that way it hurts the Flyers. [NHL.com]

Should the Caps go with Craig Anderson or Ilya Samsonov tonight? Only one real answer when it comes to the almost 40 year old or the guy who has been the #1 all season and made 40+ saves last game.. [Japers Rink]

Finally...This wasn’t a goal. Thanks Sid.
