NHL: Stanley Cup Playoffs-Pittsburgh Penguins at New York Islanders Dennis Schneidler-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Penguins’ season has come to another abrupt end. Losing to the New York Islanders in six games while largely playing the better hockey over the course of the series is sure to sting for some time.

But the team has to move forward.

While another season has come and gone with no championship for Evgeni Malkin, Sidney Crosby, and Kris Letang, that doesn't mean it was a complete failure of a campaign, either. As the core gets older by another year, even more questions are going to be asked about the team’s veteran stars.

Will Malkin and Letang receive contract extensions or have they played their final games in the black-and-gold colors of Pittsburgh? What will happen with Tristan Jarry after a legendarily bad postseason run? Is Mike Sullivan’s time as head coach up?

These are all topics that are sure to be discussed as summer kicks into full gear. And the PensBurgh Podcast is here, for one final time this season, to put a bow on this memorable crusade that was the 2021 Pittsburgh Penguins season.

Robbie and I discuss what the Penguins may change before the 2021-22 season, both in terms of player personnel and, perhaps, coaching positions as well.

This week’s mailbag is stacked from top to bottom with eleven questions thanks to our loyal Twitter users and listeners.

For those who may read this and listen to this podcast, I would like to say thank you to everyone who has taken even a second to download, listen, review, or ask a question for this show. The PensBurgh Podcast has been the project that I am most proud of working on since joining PensBurgh almost five years ago, and the show wouldn't be where it is today if not for the great listeners who enjoy the content Robbie and I put out. I hope I have done my job of both informing and entertaining anyone who listened to the show during this crazy season.

The podcast will return later this summer, likely around the time NHL free agency begins. So, for now, thanks for listening, enjoy the podcast, and Let’s Go Pens.
