In a new interview with The Times, Bon Iver mastermind Justin Vernon has indicated that his latest album, 2025’s Grammy-nominated SABLE, fABLE, may be his final full-length project. The musician admitted that he’s fully tapped out musically at the moment. “I don’t know how much is left. I’ve expelled a lot of it,” Vernon revealed, while adding, “I would be very surprised [if there was another Bon Iver album]. For the first time since I was 12, I’m not writing songs. There aren’t any in here,” he said while pointing at his heart. Reflecting on his acclaimed 20-year career, which features two Grammy wins, Vernon expressed acceptance of this unfamiliar creative pause, noting that the album’s closing track, “Au Revoir,” poetically hints at a farewell, while the music video for “Day One” humorously depicted his retirement from the project.
