Kyle Dubas joins Canada's front office for world hockey championship
Calgary - Pittsburgh Penguins general manager and president of hockey operations Kyle Dubas has been named to Canada's front office team for the upcoming world hockey championship. Hockey Canada announced Friday that Dubas will make his international debut as an associate general manager on GM Rick Nash's staff. Download the CTV News app now Dubas, from Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., recently completed his first season leading Pittsburgh's front office. The Penguins made a late playoff push but ended the season three points behind Washington for the Eastern Conference's second wild-card spot. He previously spent nine seasons in the Toronto Maple Leafs organization, including five as general manager.

Crosby plans to talk extension with Penguins
With one season left on his 12-year, $104.4 million contract, Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby said he plans to approach the team in the offseason about a contract extension. Crosby, who turns 37 on Aug. 7, has played 19 seasons with the Penguins after they selected him No. 1 overall in the 2005 draft. "Obviously, I'm going to talk to [general manager Kyle Dubas] and have a conversation with him," the two-time Hart Trophy winner and eight-time All-Star told reporters Thursday. Crosby, who posted 94 points (42 goals, 52 assists) in 82 games this season, sparked the Penguins' late playoff push that came up just short.

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Jeff Carter is retiring after 19 seasons in the league, and his send-off Wednesday night was something to remember. "I'm going to be a dad," 39-year-old Carter said. Carter scored a goal at 10:56 of the third period to tie Wednesday's game at 4-4. Carter scored more than 20 goals in a season 11 times, including a career-high 46 for Philadelphia in 2008-09.
