Eddie Vedder Tells Crowd About ‘Serious’ Battle With Covid-19

Eddie Vedder recently shared his experience facing a serious battle with Covid-19 with a live audience in Los Angeles.

During his performance at the YouTube Theater as part of his tour in support of new solo album Earthling on Friday, Vedder brought his daughter Olivia onstage to perform her song “My Father’s Daughter.”

“I just wanted her to take a quick second to look at this, because it’s very rare,” he told the crowd after Olivia played the song. “It’s incredible. I got the COVID right before we were supposed to start practicing, about five or six weeks ago, and literally saw my life flash in front of my eyes,” the Pearl Jam frontman added.

“I wasn’t quite sure. because I’ve done some very good things for my body, and I’ve also had a lot of fun. I’ve done some things that could be . some kind of abuse, I mean, nothing really clinical,” Vedder said, adding that he won’t get into the details of it. “Just use your imagination!”

Vedder, who was forced to postpone dates on his solo tour after getting infected with coronavirus earlier in February, touched upon his battle with the disease, saying, “But it felt pretty serious. And to get through that and then be back in a room like this, facing this many people facing this way, listening to us. really, truly, it’s been a gift and an honor. Thanks for listening; we’re so grateful.”
