Foo Fighters Sweep Rock Categories At Grammys After Taylor Hawkins’ Death

Foo Fighters swept the rock categories at the 2022 Grammys Medicine at Midnight won Best Rock Album, while songs from the album were selected for Best Rock Performance (“Making a Fire”) and Best Rock Song (“Waiting on a War”).

Despite winning three awards, the rock stalwarts did not attend the ceremony as their drummer Taylor Hawkins died in his Colombia hotel room last month.

Presenter Jimmy Jam accepted the prizes on behalf of the band, offering prayers to Hawkins’ loved ones.

Hawkins died on March 25 in Colombian capital Bogotá, as Foo Fighters were preparing for a concert at Festival Estéreo Picnic. The 50 year old artist died reportedly due to substance overdose.

The rock band canceled all of their scheduled music programs, including a performance at the Grammys, in the wake of Hawkins’ death.
