Ohio State Athletic Band Pays Tribute To Van Halen

The Ohio State Athletic Band performed a tribute to Van Halen during their annual halftime show at Ohio Stadium in Columba on Saturday, April 16.

The band kicked off the 8-minute drill with renditions of Van Halen’s “Runnin’ With the Devil” and “Dreams,” while the tribute also included takes on “Panama” and “Jump.”

The tribute performance took place at halftime of the annual Spring Game between the Ohio State Scarlet team (offense) and the Ohio State Gray team (defense).

The band consists of between 250 and 300 members every semester and rehearses twice a week.

Unlike the Marching Band, the Athletic Band includes all brass, woodwind and percussion instruments. The Athletic Band is an open-enrollment ensemble, meaning anyone is welcome to participate.
