The Butler Institute of American Art has announced that the institute’s branch in Youngstown, Ohio, will host “Paul Stanley: The Other Side,” an exhibit of the legendary KISS frontman Paul Stanley‘s artwork between August 13th and October 8th.

Stanley is set to make a special appearance on August 12th for the exhibit’s opening reception, which will be a limited private event. The guests will receive one commemorative artwork hand-signed by Stanley.

“For me, it takes my breath away,” Stanley says. “This is a terrific museum. And the first that really championed American artists. So, it will be a group of some of my favorite and best pieces.”

Overall, sixteen one-of-a-kind pieces by Stanley will be on display, including new original acrylic paintings and mixed media originals.

Butler Executive Director Louis A. Zona stated, “Paul Stanley is a figurative artist whose depictions of the human form are empowered by an explosive use of color. But his paintings move beyond the figure and into imaginary worlds where his KISS persona floats through stars, guitars, flags, hearts and other background imagery, enhancing the many approaches to the figure seen (in) the bulk of the work.

“Stanley is an artist who encourages both order and dissonance in fields of color and form. His work can be viewed as a celebration of our visual universe,” he added.

An iconic KISS emblem designed and created by Stanley remains universally recognized as one of the greatest logos of the 20th century. His artistic and visual input can be seen in his designs of KISS album covers, performance stages and apparel.

Stanley’s success with his artwork has earned him great fan and media presence. Several celebrities and art collectors across the world have acquired his works, resulting in sales worth tens of millions.
