Red Hot Chili Peppers recently released an atmospheric new single, “Not the One,” the third song from their upcoming album Unlimited Love.
“I’m not the person that you thought I was / I’m not the one you thought you knew,” singer Anthony Kiedis croons. “I do most anything to make you think that I’m the one / I do it all to get to you.”
The band had previously released “Poster Child” and “Black Summer” from Unlimited Love, which is set to drop on April 1. Unlimited Love follows Red Hot Chili Peppers’ 2016 LP The Getaway. The album, produced by Rick Rubin, is the band’s first with guitarist John Frusciante since 2006’s Stadium Arcadium.
“We spent thousands of hours, collectively and individually, honing our craft and showing up for one another, to make the best album we could,” the Chili Peppers said. “Our antennae attuned to the divine cosmos, we were just so damn grateful for the opportunity to be in a room together, and, once again, try to get better.”
They added, “Days, weeks, and months spent listening to each other, composing, jamming freely, and arranging the fruit of those jams with great care and purpose. The sounds, rhythms, vibrations, words, and melodies had us enrapt.”
